4.5 Billion: A brand for the Earth

Our planet is approximately 4.5 billion years old, and in the relatively short time we humans have inhabited it (approx. 200,000 years) it has provided all we have needed for life.

Instead of appreciating these gifts and taking only what we need, we are systematically destroying our planet, with little thought or care for the consequences. In saying this, I use leftover marble from the residential and commercial side of the company I work within, as I saw this very wasteful, and also as an opportunity to further my skills in a sustainable manner.

We mine resources out of the ground and cut down trees to mass produce disposable products that are destined to become landfill within a couple of years. All the while creating greenhouse gas emissions in factories, which are suffocating our planet.

4.5 Billion is a brand for the Earth.

It is about upcycling leftover resources to create unique furniture and homewares and creating wearable collections and jewellery that are meant to be loved for a lifetime, using only ethically sourced and sustainable materials, which the Earth has provided us.

These materials include marble and granite composites, found fallen branches and tree trunks, bamboo, organic canvas, hemp, organic cotton blends, mineral based paints, gold/silver leaf, raw crystals, wood veneering and tree sap.

The furniture runs in a natural form of veinmatching where required to create a feel as though the piece has been carved out of a single block of marble or is bookmatched to create perfect symmetry.

The garment and accessory collections are inspired by the silhouettes of materials and elements of Earth. Globe, crystals and pagan star referencing all relevant to this subject. Also incorporating elemental symbols signifying fire, earth, air and water.

The brand logo features the Pagan pentagram without the top point, as the top point represents the spirit and when you become part of 4.5 Billion you complete the pagan star.

Each collection hereafter will run in a particular theme related to the diversity of Earths creations.

About Me

I'm a fully qualified stonemason by trade and work for a stone masonry company casually. I use the same premises to create my pieces from leftover materials, otherwise used as landfill. I found this very wasteful which is what originally sparked the idea for this venture.

The past five years I have been working as a fashion designer/maker and furniture designer/maker. As well as working within interior design whilst living in Sydney, designing and creating pieces/spaces desired for 3 seperate shop/design studio fitouts.

I do not take inspiration from any other designer, or from past or present trends; I’m about moving forward and take inspiration from nature to create my own aesthetic.

I create each piece myself and work obsessively on the creation of an object from start to finish.
